Israel’s domestic security service, Shin Bet, acknowledged its failure to act on warnings regarding a planned Hamas attack, while also criticizing the Israeli government’s policies that enabled Hamas to strengthen.

The Israeli military reported that intelligence failures led to its inability to prevent the deadly Oct. 7 attack by Hamas, attributing the oversight to a longstanding misunderstanding of the group's intentions.
